In Rio de Janeiro, on the morning of January 25, 2024, a woman was arrested for vandalizing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus for the second time in six months.
This incident occurred at the RioCentro train station, which is located in the western zone of the city. Upon entering the bus, the woman exhibited aggressive behavior and punched and kicked the front door.
Despite the driver’s attempt to stop her, she escalated her actions by attacking another passenger and throwing a trash can at the door of the bus, causing damage. Agents from the BRT Seguro of the Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP) were alerted and arrested the woman, who was then taken to Police Station 32 at
Taquara.
It was revealed that the same person had already been arrested in July 2023 for similar incidents of property damage at the Olof Palme train station, also in the same region of the city.
